Stefan Thut's 'un/even and one' Out Now on Intonema

Russia-based label Intonema has just released a new album by Stefan Thut. It's entitled un/even and one and features a recording of a performance taken last June in Saint Petersburg. You can stream an excerpt from the piece above. The press release is as follows:

Intonema continues to produce works by Wandelweiser composers performed by Russian musicians. Stefan Thut, a Swiss composer and cello player, came to Saint Petersburg in June 2015 to present his new score "un/even and one" which Yuri Akbalkan, Anna Antipova, Ilia Belorukov, Andrey Popovskiy and Denis Sorokin performed with him. In this score Thut joined the sounds from transcribed language played through the surface of a moving cardboard box with acoustic and electronic instruments. Silence and sound mirror the interleaving of score, space, performer and instrumentalists.

You can find more information about un/even and one and purchase it on the Intonema website here. You can also purchase a digital copy of the album from the label's Bandcamp site here.

Jeph Jerman's '34°111'3"N 111°95'4"W' is the Inaugural Release for New Label Mappa

Mappa is a newly launched label out of Slovakia and it's inaugural release comes from Jeph Jerman. The album is entitled 34°111'3"N 111°95'4"W and features three field recordings of an abandoned windmill located approximately one mile north of Jerman's hometown. These tracks were recorded over the course of two years and is presented without much embellishment. The press release contains a quote from an interview that Jerman had with Time Quotidian—"These days I don't try to evoke anything. I make sound that'll hopefully be listened to." It's apt considering the presentation of sounds on the album.

You can stream 34°111'3"N 111°95'4"W above via Mappa's Bandcamp. You can find more information about the album and purchase it here. The album is also available on cassette. Stolen Mirror Releases New Album From Fergus Kelly

Ireland-based label Stolen Mirror has released a new album from Fergus Kelly entitled Neural Atlas. The fifth track from the album can be streamed above and you can see the tracklist for the album below. The press release for the album is as follows:

As we walk the city, we are immersed in complex electromagnetic fields, emanating from cell phones, mobile computers, cash points, and security systems. Like blind deep-sea fish, we swim in this ocean of radiation, unaware that it permeates the air we breath, irradiating our skin, penetrating our cells.

Composer Fergus Kelly is well known for his powerful interpretations of field recordings. For Neural Atlas, fellow sound artist Robin Parmar provided a collection of electromagnetic recordings, gathered from laptop computers, transformer substations, digital cameras, and other devices. From these sources, Kelly has created a powerful series of glitched and distorted signals, rich in depth and tonality. The title of the CD hints that this sonic atlas might be a map of an overloaded nervous system.

Neural Atlas is limited to 100 copies and can be purchased from the Stolen Mirror website here.

Neural Atlas tracklist:

1. First Node (7:34)
2. Second Node (6:40)
3. Third Node (4:30)
4. Fourth Node (10:04)
5. Fifth Node (8:33)
6. Sixth Node (13:52)
